Not sure if it'd be better to future proof a bit with the FLEX and have four tuners or just go for the transcoding capability in the EXTEND. I live near Atlanta, and there are some stations broadcasting in ATSC 3.0 don't know if they're actually 4k though. My Plex server is a Intel NUC8i5 and my network is all gigabit, each room wired with CAT6. I'm assuming that the FLEX does not have transcoding capability since it isn't mentioned anywhere. Where does Plex save recorded shows? On same drive as the install or can you choose another location? I also have a Synology NAS that I would rather use for storage if possible. Is it possible to use that external drive as DVR storage with Plex?
I have a couple of questions too.įrom what I understand, the FLEX 4K is just a CONNECT 4K with a USB port for a external hard drive. I'd love to hear opinions from people who have this hardware and what you think. We are probably going to do a little recording with the Plex DVR (maybe a few shows) so I thought that would help keep file sizes and network traffic down. What do you think would be the better way to go? The FLEX 4K supports ATSC 3.0 and has four tuners, however the EXTEND supports onboard transcoding but has two tuners ( I think two may be enough, but don't know yet). I'm looking to get either the FLEX 4K/CONNECT 4K or possibly the EXTEND (discontinued, but found some on eBay).
